Bandwidth - Definition
Bandwidth is the amount of data that can be transmitted along a communications channel in a fixed amount of time (usually a second). For digital devices, the bandwidth is usually expressed in bits per second (bps) or bytes per second, where 1 byte = 8 bits. For instance, a modem that works at 57,600 bits per second has twice the bandwidth of a modem that works at 28,800 bits per second.
