W3C - Definition

W3C is an abbreviation for World Wide Web Consortium. It is the international standards body, established in 1994, dedicated to ensuring interoperability between all the varied system and network types that comprise the World Wide Web part of the Internet. The W3C log format is commonly used by several web server software systems, such as Microsoft IIS. Although W3C is funded by members of organizations, its products are freely available to anyone. Only organizations may apply for membership to the Consortium.
