Web Server - Definition
A Web Server is typically defined as the physical computer itself that acts as a server. It is called a server because its main function is to deliver web pages to Internet browsers and other files to applications via the HTTP protocol. There really isn’t anything special about a server’s hardware. It simply includes the hardware, operating system, server software, communication protocols and the web site content and files.
